The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Minnesota Vikings are both young teams with plenty of talent, but seem to be heading in opposite directions in 2012.
The Buccaneers (2-4) came into the year loaded for bear with a tremendous offseason full of high-priced free agent signings. New head coach Greg Schiano brought tons of optimism and a promise of hard-nosed play.
In reality, the Bucs have failed to mesh and Schiano has made bigger headlines for his attitude than anything his team has done on the field.
The Vikings (5-2) would not only make the playoffs if the season started today, but would clinch a bye and home-field advantage. This is crazy for a team that did little more than age and get healthy over the offseason. It's even crazier if one remembers all of the critics (this writer included) who questioned the coaching staff's acumen.
