While it appears to be just a formality at this point, the Washington Redskins have listed young wide receiver Pierre Garcon as doubtful for Week 7 with a nagging foot injury, according to Redskins beat reporter for the Washington Examiner John Keim:
Garçon doubtful.Rocca is questionable. Sav tweaked knee jogging other day. Will test him saturday— John Keim (@john_keim) October 19, 2012
If you are a fantasy owner of Garcon and you're looking for a viable replacement in your lineup, all of the following names are going to be available via a buy-low trade or on the waiver wire. Each of these plays will be risky, but they have a high-reward potential as well.
Kenny Britt, Tennessee Titans
After finally returning to full health, Tennessee Titans star wide receiver Kenny Britt is due for a huge game against the putrid 20th-ranked secondary of the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
With 11 targets in two of his last three games, fantasy owners should expect more out of Britt as he continues to get healthy and get on the same page as the ever-rotating quarterback carousel.
If you are still waiting on the return of Garcon, buying Britt low right now will be the long-term move that could send your fantasy team to the playoffs.
Josh Gordon, Cleveland Browns
While the Indianapolis Colts have a much better secondary than they are given credit for, the Cleveland Browns will be throwing the ball all day.
Add in the new-found, deep-threat rapport between rookies Brandon Weeden and Josh Gordon, and this is a fantasy risk worth taking.
The output this week may be limited to a deep reception or two, but that’s all it takes for the young receiver to get into the end zone and score your fantasy team 15 surprise points during the bye weeks.
Santana Moss, Washington Redskins
With the Washington Redskins missing their slot receiver, Pierre Garcon, for at least another week, veteran Santana Moss will once again take that spot and capitalize on being Robert Griffin III’s escape valve.
Moss and the Redskins will be facing off against a New York Giants team that has been terrible against the pass this season and even worse against slot receivers. If the veteran receiver can get going early, this divisional matchup will be Moss’ coming out party.
Whether you have to buy Moss low or bid for him via the waiver wire, grab the Washington star and plug him in your flex spot this week; it will be well worth the risk.
