With a huge matchup against the No. 24 Iowa State Cyclones this week and the No. 23 TCU Horned Frogs in Week 9, the Oklahoma State Cowboys have revealed their new uniforms featuring lovable mascot Pistol Pete (h/t OKState's official Twitter).

While the Cowboys already had one of the most colorful uniforms in the nation—utilizing white, black and orange—this new addition to the collection is one of the coolest upgrades in the college football season.

Not only will Oklahoma State be wearing their orange tops and bottoms, their helmet will be bright orange with the likeness of Pistol Pete on the side.

You will not miss these uniforms!

"Wow" Factor: 9 out of 10

The first aspect of this uniform that hits is the sheer amount of orange coming at you at one time; it’s almost overwhelming. Once the shock wears off, though, there is a controlled madness to the combination.

While the fans will notice the orange pants and jerseys, the normally white or black helmets for the Cowboys today will be orange. Add in the likeness of mascot Pistol Pete on the side of the helmet, and this is a fun twist on the team’s classic look.

Fans can’t forget that Pistol Pete has been the mascot for the Cowboys since 1923, and paying homage is a great touch.

When it comes to the “Wow” factor, this uniform has it!

Design: 8 out of 10

As much as the all-orange alternative uniform is catchy and flashy, there are slight alterations that would have made this the perfect look.

Using white on either the helmet or the pants would have broken up the pure orange look and made the helmet pop even more. With Pistol Pete obviously the focus of the uniform, the icon on the helmet should have been highlighted a bit more.

While the uniforms are still great, a slight alteration to the size of Pete’s head on the helmet would have made this one of the most memorable alternate uniforms in college football history.

Forget blackouts, we need more mascot integration!

Overall Swag Grade: 8.5 out of 10

There is no question that the color scheme pays homage to the school's colors while attracting attention, but it is the inclusion of Pistol Pete’s mugshot on the side of the helmets that makes these uniforms elite.

There is undoubtedly too much orange, but the mustached man adorning the team’s uniforms is too fun to ignore.

If Oklahoma State added a bit more black and white, this would be the perfect uniform. With all considered, though, it’s still an incredible throwback design, and I would buy a Pistol Pete hat or shirt for sure.
