TCU defensive end Stansly Maponga will not play Saturday against Texas Tech, TCU announced late Friday. The junior injured his foot in the first half at Baylor last week. He was the lone Horned Frog to be named to the preseason All-Big 12 team. He had 12 tackles, a sack and three quarterback hurries through six games this season. Last year Maponga led TCU with nine sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss and was named first team All-Mountain West Conference. Replacing Maponga at left end will likely fall to either junior Jon Koontz, who is listed behind Devonte Fields at right end, or true freshmen James McFarland and Flower Mound High School ex Joshua Carrarway. McFarland played in the second half last week against Baylor. Carraway has yet to play. TCU coach Gary Patterson said this week that Carraway would likely have to burn his redshirt season if Maponga couldn't play Saturday.
