So after weeks of speculation that L.T. could become a Saint, all those wishes went down the drain with his re-signing with the Chargers. This writer was one of those that tossed out some speculation about it too.
But as I sit here, I realize that we have a hidden gem here in New Orleans in Pierre Thomas. This undrafted free agent had a rushing average of over 4.0 yards per carry last year. He has also become a fan favorite here in New Orleans.
He will easily rush over 1,000 yards this season. No one is going to be able to put eight men in the box against New Orleans because of Drew Brees. Pierre Thomas will succeed where others had failed last season playing for the Saints.
No, this young man is not L.T. No, he hasn't rushed for over 10,000 yards and is not chasing Emmit Smith's record. He is very young and his potential exceeds what people know about him.
This man can run between the tackles. This means that New Orleans does not have to use Reggie Bush as an every down back. The NFL and its fans saw how that failed last year and now Bush can also be utilized as a return man. Ask the Vikings how scary that can be.
With Pierre Thomas running in the Saint's backfield, and Bush catching out of the backfield from Drew Brees, the Saints could be unstoppable on their quest to win the NFC South and hopefully a Super Bowl.
