Ishmail Wainright, a 6'6" wing from Kansas City, Mo., has committed to the Baylor Bears Thursday night, according to Alex Kline of TheRecruitScoop.com.
Wainright originally committed to Missouri in May of 2011, but he reopened his recruitment a few months later and began taking visits.
Wainright took a visit to Baylor last week for their Midnight Madness event.
The 4-star commit is considered the 16th-best small forward and the 60th-best player in the 2013 class by 247Sports.com. He had offers from several top Division-I schools, including Arizona, Duke, UCLA, Ohio State, Memphis and Arkansas.
ESPN says of Wainright:
Ishmail is a fluid athlete, running the wing in transition and finishing plays on drives to the basket. Offensively, Ishmail is most effective using the bounce to attack the basket and creating scoring opportunities for himself or for others.
Wainright was forced to sit out during the summer, missing several AAU tournaments, after having surgery on his left foot. He should be able to play for his high school team, Montrose Christian High School, for his senior year.
Wainright averaged 8.0 points, 8.2 assists and 4.4 rebound a game during his junior year.
Expect Baylor head coach Scott Drew to look for a shooting guard next to fill out the 2013 class.
