Over at his official Twitter account, former WWE Champion Rey Mysterio has opened up to his fans about the illness that is currently keeping him out of action.

Addressing the news that he has been forced to miss WWE's current tour of Egypt due a serious case of the stomach flu (he was replaced by Ted DBiase Jr.) , Rey posted earlier today:

Would like to apologize to all the fans out in Cairo for not being able to attend the tour due to a serious illness! Really feel bad for missing this one, but promise to make the next tour. Enjoy! 1 luv Rey619

Over the past few weeks, the popular babyface star has been stricken with illness, forcing him to miss several shows and reportedly leaving him bed-ridden.

The illness has also led to WWE being forced to change their booking plans. Last Monday, Mysterio and his new tag team partner Sin Cara were due to participate in the finals on WWE's tag team tournament against Team Rhodes Scholars (the winner gets a shot at Team Hell No at the upcoming Hell in a Cell pay-per-view), but that has now been postponed until next week's edition of the flagship show, when, hopefully, he should be able to compete.
