In a 3-2 victory, the Devils were actually outshot by the Flames 37- 28. I have to give Brodeur credit for this one. He was very controlled and played the angles well.
Marty was in top form, keeping the Devils in the game after giving up a first period goal because of Zubrus missing his assignment. The Flames were hungry for the win. They kept the Devils on their heels, controlling most of the game. The Flames were faster and more precise with their play, but could not get the better of Brodeur.
A late third-period goal, which made the score 3-2, was as close as the Flames could get.
