Ah yes, Miami in March—the beach, bikinis, and the World Baseball Classic. Before Team USA and Team Venezuela head south toward the warm weather, they must play to determine the winner of Pool C.
The two teams meet at 3:30 p.m. PT today. Venezuela, high off their 10-1 power-hitting win against Team Italy, appeared ready for the challenge at the post-game press conference.
“The last WBC, we didn’t hit well,” said Venezuela’s catcher Ramon Hernandez. “Now, at least all the hitters—it’s a good sign that they came more prepared.”
Bobby Abreu, who contributed a home run in the team’s fifth inning barrage of homers, echoed Hernandez’s statements.
