When: Mar. 11-14
Where: Ford Center, Oklahoma City
Outlook: With Oklahoma State and Texas A&M making late pushes, the Big XII tourney opening round could be very meaningful to bubble teams around the country.
Outside of the Big East and ACC, Oklahoma and Kansas will be fighting for a shot at the final No. 1 seed, while Texas and Missouri each have room to improve on the seeding line. Should be plenty of fireworks.
Kansas State. The Wildcats received the four seed in the conference tourney over other bubble teams Texas A&M and Oklahoma State, but KSU has the most work left to do of the bunch.
Assuming Texas gets by Colorado, Kansas State will have to beat the Longhorns and then in-state rival Kansas to have any shot at an at-large bid.
Texas A&M. The Aggies have won six games in a row and have been surging after an 18-point second half comeback in Lincoln.
Texas A&M just beat Missouri last Saturday in the regular season finale, and have the size with Elonu and Davis to give Oklahoma problems in a potential semifinal meeting.
Oklahoma State. The Pokes need to get past Iowa State first, but OSU has the personnel to upset Oklahoma in the quarterfinals.
A third meeting this season should be the best Bedlam showdown yet.
Kansas. The Jayhawks won the Big XII regular season title, giving KU the easiest road to the championship game.
Because the bottom of the bracket poses four potential NCAA tournament teams, a more rested Kansas bunch should win another conference title.
