Although the general public thinks of NBA players as just athletes, they are actually paid to entertain the crowd. These 10 players give the fans entertainment through more than just their play, as their personalities are so engaging that fans cannot hear enough stories about their off-the-court lives.
Athletes are often scrutinized for their personal lives or their play, but these players embrace the spotlight and try to have some fun with it. Most of the players on this list are fun guys to be around and love to make both their teammates and the fans laugh.
Some players hate the spotlight and would rather have private lives, but these guys really know how to show their fans that they are normal people who love their jobs.
Here are the top 10 most engaging personalities in the NBA:

Kevin Garnett is one of the most intense players in the entire NBA. This intensity and love of the game also makes him one of the most engaging personalities in the league.
Garnett really feeds off the crowd. He displays how much he loves the Boston crowd at all of the Celtics' home games with his various pregame routines.
Here is a funny video of Kevin Garnett telling Craig Sager how ugly his suit is:

The career leader for technical fouls in NBA history with 304, Rasheed Wallace is definitely one of the most engaging personalities in the league.
Rasheed recently came out of retirement to play for the New York Knicks. His chemistry with personalities such as Amar'e Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith will be interesting to see all season long.
8. Kevin Love

Kevin Love is one of the best young stars in the NBA. Love also has one of the most engaging personalities in the league.
Love is known for doing trick shots prior to games, including this one:
He also has one of the most entertaining twitter accounts in the NBA (@kevinlove). Here is one of his funnier tweets, about Robin and Brook Lopez:

LeBron James is the most scrutinized player in the NBA, but somehow he remains a guy who doesn't take himself too seriously. Although many people dislike him, it's hard to deny his engaging personality.
Whether it be his pregame chalk toss or his other antics, LeBron is always entertaining. The bottom line is that LeBron is always trying to make people laugh.
6. Russell Westbrook

Russell Westbrook's postgame outfits were a sight to see during last year's postseason.
Although he is often criticized for his in-game decisions, there is no denying that Westbrook is one of the best young players in the NBA. In addition, Westbrook seems like a fun guy who doesn't take himself too seriously.
5. Amar'e Stoudemire

Amar'e Stoudemire is not only one of the best players in the NBA, but he also has one of the most engaging personalities in the league. One of the most intriguing parts of his career was when he discovered his Jewish roots.
Stoudemire is clearly a very intellectual individual (even though he did not attend college).
4. Chris Kaman

The picture above displays how engaging Mavericks center Chris Kaman really is. Kaman decided that the best way to prepare for his upcoming game against the Charlotte Bobcats was to go hunting and, in fact, kill a bobcat.
This is just one of many hilarious incidents that Kaman has been a part of. Here are tweets exchanged between ESPN columnist Bill Simmons, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Chris Kaman himself:
Bill Simmons: "Put it this way: I wasn't crazy about Elton Brand and Chris Kaman playing together in 2006 when they were still good."
Mark Cuban: @sportsguy33. They next smart personnel comment you mae will be your first

3. Blake Griffin

When people first hear Blake Griffin speak, many of us think that he is a boring guy. However, he is far from it.
Not only is he hilarious in his Kia commercials, the skit he did at the 2011 ESPYS with Kevin Love, Adrian Peterson and Metta World Peace about what professional athletes were doing during the lockout was also very entertaining. 2. Dwight Howard

Metta's teammate Dwight Howard is the second most entertaining and engaging basketball player in the NBA. His antics on and off the court prove that he is a fun guy to be around.
However, his personality has been criticized recently by the national media because some people believe that he doesn't take basketball seriously enough. Either way, Howard has a very engaging personality. That should not change just because he is in Los Angeles.
1. Metta World Peace

Metta World Peace is the most engaging personality in the NBA since Dennis Rodman. Although he has had his issues with his temper, Metta seems to be a fun guy to be around.
From thanking his therapist after winning the championship to going into the crowd to kiss the hand of a woman who appreciated his hustle, Metta is one of the most engaging personalities in all of sports.
Although many people still hold a grudge on him for punching a fan in Detroit, it seems like he has really changed and become a fun guy to be around.
Although nobody can deny that Metta World Peace is crazy, he is entertaining nonetheless.
