The New York Yankees should probably start scoring some runs one of these days.
They managed to cross the plate in the ninth after being shut down by Justin Verlander for eight innings on Tuesday night, but it wasn't enough as the Detroit Tigers escaped with a 2-1 victory. The Tigers now hold a commanding 3-0 series lead and are just one win away from the World Series.
The Yankees, who have scored one run in their past two games combined, will turn to ace CC Sabathia on Wednesday to keep their postseason dreams alive while the Tigers will roll with Max Scherzer.
Sabathia is 2-0 during this postseason with two dominant wins over the Baltimore Orioles, but even if he continues to be lights out, the Yanks will have to give him some run support.
Scherzer, meanwhile, pitched 5.1 innings allowing one unearned run with eight strikeouts against Oakland a week ago and looks to be recovering just fine from a bout of shoulder soreness.
Game 4 will take place in Detroit on Wednesday at 8:07 p.m. ET. Check out the TBS analysts as they break down the matchup.
