Laurent Koscielny: Luis Suarez Is a Cheat

    Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has called Liverpool forward Luis Suarez "a cheat." (via ESPN FC).

    Koscielny, 27, made his remarks to French publication L'Equipe.

    Suarez, 25, was involved in a controversial incident in Liverpool's game against Stoke recently. Stoke manager Tony Pulis accused Suarez of going to the ground too easily under contact.

    Koscielny added to the criticism by saying Suarez is the player he least likes to play against.

    He is tiresome to defend against. He cheats. He pulls your shirt, giving small blows. You always want to give him a kick but you have to be careful not to be red carded.

    For example on September 2 against Liverpool, it was the case with Luis Suarez.

    He is a player who likes to dive as soon as there is contact. During a challenge we jostled a bit each other and he fell. "He started to talk to me in English, to say it was a penalty.

    Arsenal won the Sept. 2 match 2-0 at Anfield. The next match between the teams is scheduled for Jan. 30, 2013, at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium.

Zbigniew Boniek

    Polish legend Zbigniew Boniek has criticized England international Andy Carroll ahead of Poland's home qualifying match against England on Tuesday. Boniek has claimed his grandson has "better coordination" than the English striker (via The Sun).

    Boniek, 56, scored four goals to help lead Poland to third place at the 1982 FIFA World Cup. Carroll, 23, was included in England's Euro 2012 squad and is a member of the team that will play in Poland on Tuesday in World Cup 2014 qualifying.

    Boniek, however, is not impressed with Carroll. “My grandson Mateo moves better on the pitch than Andy Carroll and he has better coordination,” he said.

Manchester City Chasing Daniele De Rossi Again?

    Manchester City are again chasing Italian midfielder Daniele De Rossi. Manager Roberto Mancini has made De Rossi, 29, the club's top transfer target for January (via Manchester Evening News).

    De Rossi has reportedly clashed with AS Roma manager Zdanek Zeman. Roma are interested in reducing a £48 million loss last fiscal year.

    De Rossi could serve as a stopgap replacement for Yaya Toure, who is expected to leave the squad for several weeks this winter to play in the African Nations Cup.

    City reportedly showed interest in De Rossi both last winter and this past summer.

Real Madrid Target Kasper Schmeichel?

    Real Madrid have targeted Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel as a backup and long-term replacement for for 31-year-old Iker Casillas (via Daily Star).

    Schmeichel, 25, is the son of former Manchester United keeper Peter Schmeichel. The younger Schmeichel was part of Denmark's Euro 2012 squad.

PSG to Offer Cole 3-Year Deal

    Paris Saint-Germain will offer England defender Ashley Cole a three-year contract worth €185,000 per week (via Goal.com).

    Cole, 31, is expected to leave Chelsea, either in the offseason or in the January transfer window, after declining to sign a new one-year contract with the club. He joined Chelsea from Arsenal in 2006.
