Cardinals vs. Giants: Video Highlights for NLCS Game 1
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman David Freese is going to find a way to hit a home run in October. The hero from last year's World Series struck again with a home run off Madison Bumgarner, helping to lead the Cardinals to a 6-4 victory over the San Francisco Giants in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series.
Freese did have some help along the way, as Carlos Beltran also got in on the action with a two-run homer to give the Cardinals a commanding 6-0 lead in the top of the fourth.
Just like they did against Cincinnati in the National League Division Series, the Giants did not go quietly into that good night hoping to fight another day. They put a four spot up in the bottom of the fourth before the bullpens took over.
Combined, Cardinals and Giants relievers pitched 10 2/3 innings, allowing two hits, no runs and they struck out nine. In fact, despite winning the game, the Cardinals didn't have a hit after Bumgarner came out in the fourth inning.
Just another wild, crazy day in the 2012 Major League Baseball Postseason.
