BCS Rankings 2012: Winners and Losers of the 1st Official Poll

Barrett Sallee@BarrettSalleeSEC Football Lead WriterOctober 15, 2012

Get your popcorn ready, because the monster known as the BCS is back and better than ever.

Well, maybe not better than ever. In fact, it looks like more of the same.

The first edition of the 2012 BCS standings looks eerily similar to how the final version of the 2011 standings finished, with SEC teams at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. To the surprise of nobody, Alabama holds down the top spot, while the Florida Gators occupy the No. 2 spot.

Not to be outdone, Notre Dame continued its trek back to major college football relevance by coming in at the No. 5 spot in the BCS.

Who are the winners and losers of the Week 1 standings? SEC lead writer Barrett Sallee breaks them down in this edition of "The Program."
