Manchester City Transfers: 3 Big-Name Stars on the Blues' Radar for January

Manchester City have recovered from their poor start to the season, but that won't stop the rumour mill from churning-up fresh names for Roberto Mancini to sign.

You can always improve your squad no matter what you've achieved, and if Patrick Viera is correct in saying the Citizens house some of the best young talent the world is yet to see, then the only players worth spending on are superstars.

With that in mind, here are three big-name players linked to the Etihad stadium for January.

Isco

Goal.com are reporting an exclusive on Manchester City's interest in Malaga star Isco.

The Andalusian club are currently riding high in both the UEFA Champions League and La Liga thanks to some wonderful performances, but no player has shone brighter than this young Spaniard.

The all-action midfielder would add even more energy and competition to a packed midfield, and should be able to slot in for first-team action with immediate effect.

Isco supposedly has a €21 million buyout clause with los Boquerones, making him very affordable for a host of top-tier clubs.

Stevan Jovetic

Another star Manchester City will chase in January is familiar target Stevan Jovetic.

ESPN is reporting that Roberto Mancini wants to push ahead with a deal to bring the Montenegrin forward to the Etihad stadium as soon as this winter, despite the Fiorentina management informing the player he may leave at the end of 2013 (via Goal.com.)

The Citizens are also thought to have had bids of around £25 million rejected already, so it'll be interesting to see what price bracket he moves in when his departure finally comes around.

Robert Lewandowski

TransferMarketWeb.com, amongst others, are quoting Roberto Mancini on his admiration of Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski.

The Italian said: "I like him: he's young, scores a lot in Bundesliga. However, at the time we already have four forwards available here at City".

Manchester City is indeed packed full of striking options, but this link will have City fans rather excited. Although he didn't manage to score at the Etihad on his last visit, his record is unchallenged in Germany over the past few seasons.

    How much is Lewandowski worth?
