Oklahoma State-Iowa State: Big 12 Tournament First Round (Mar. 11)

Shaun HartCorrespondent IMarch 10, 2009

No. 7 Oklahoma State (20-10, 9-7) at Iowa State (15-16, 4-12)

Wed. Mar. 11 at 7:00 p.m. EST

Spread: Oklahoma State -10.0

Backcourt Advantage: Oklahoma State

The Cowboys are led by four talented, high-scoring guards in James Anderson (18.9 PPG), Byron Eaton (14.5 PPG), Terrel Harris (14.2 PPG), and Obi Muonelo (12.5 PPG). They lead the Big 12 in scoring and rank fourth in the nation with 82.2 points per game, while making 9.5 three-pointers per game, also tops in the Big 12.

OSU will be able to dictate tempo and control the perimeter against the less talented Iowa State backcourt.

Frontcourt Advantage: Iowa State

Led by sophomore phenom Craig Brackins (20.1 PPG, 9.4 RPG), the Cyclones will have a considerable advantage inside. Brackins recorded 14 double-doubles in the regular season and should have no trouble getting his 15th against the smaller Cowboys.

Brackins won't be able to win this game for the Cyclones on his own though. The Cowboys are too talented on the perimeter to let that happen.

Momentum: Oklahoma State

OSU finished the regular season winning six of its last seven games. Its only loss was at Oklahoma on Saturday. The Cowboys should be able to regroup from that loss and make a serious run in the Big 12 tournament. They will also be a dangerous team to face in the NCAA tournament.

Shaun's Pick: Oklahoma State -10.0
