It's hard to believe but college football is already in its seventh week of action. We are halfway through the season which means teams will be fighting for their postseason lives, making picking games more difficult.
But let's give it a shot.
Here are some of my picks against the spread:
Ohio State to cover at Indiana (Ohio State -17.5)
Indiana's defense hasn't stopped many teams this season en route to its 2-3 record. They even allowed Ball State to score 41 points in a loss to the Cardinals. Braxton Miller and the Ohio State offense should have a field day against a sub-par defense.
The Hoosiers' offense may be able to put points on the board, which is why they aren't 20 or more point underdogs, I guess, but the Buckeyes' offense will put close to 50 points on the board.
Urban Meyer has done a fantastic job, and his offense and Miller's capabilities at quarterback have turned out to be a great combination in Columbus.
Ohio State 49, Indiana 24.
West Virginia to cover at Texas Tech (WVU -4)
Geno Smith has been unreal this season. He has tossed 24 touchdowns compared to zero interceptions. He is on pace for one of the most memorable seasons of all time.
Texas Tech is a good team, but they aren't to the point of defeating top-tier competition. Last week at Oklahoma, the Red Raiders got bombarded for 41 points in a 41-20 defeat.
Three of their four victories have come against the likes of Northwestern State (3-3), Texas State (2-3) and New Mexico (3-3).
Texas Tech still has a ways to go before they can compete with the big boys.
West Virginia 38, Texas Tech 27.
LSU to cover vs. South Carolina (LSU -3)
Easily one of the premier showcases of the day, South Carolina heads to Baton Rouge to play a LSU team fresh off defeat.
Les Miles' bunch will be ready to go, that's for sure. And they rarely lose at home, another reason why I will pick LSU to cover the spread.
Zach Mettenberger has struggled this season while being under immense pressure. He has recorded six touchdowns and three interceptions while being sacked 15 times.
If LSU can protect Mettenberger long enough for him to make a few plays, LSU will escape with a confidence-building victory.
LSU 19, South Carolina 13.
Judging by the quality of games this Saturday, picking games will be mighty difficult. Here are the latest lines for Saturday's action:
