As the month of March continues, summer vacation gets a lot closer for the Washington Wizards. While waiting till next year is something that would not be publicly stated by any players or management in D.C, it appears that two of their most vital pieces, Gilbert Arenas and Brendan Haywood, won’t be seen on the court until then.
The Washington Post reports today that those inside the club don’t expect to see Arenas until October. With Washington locking up a lottery pick, the team could look very different next fall as well.
In other news, the Hawks may have to go into the playoffs without forward Marvin Williams. Williams injured his lower back over the weekend in a win over the Pistons. Hawks coach Mike Woodson told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution the loss of Williams “was a huge blow”. There is no set timetable on Williams return to the court.
With Celtics starters Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett nursing injuries, the two newest members of the team will be looked on to contribute big time during the stretch run of the regular season.
Stephon Marbury and Mikki Moore could both be called on to be inserted into the starting lineup, as well as log heavy minutes during the last 15-20 games, according to the Boston Herald.
This not only will help both players get acclimated to their new surroundings, but also let Celtics coach Doc Rivers see the limitations of both players, and adjust his playoff rotation accordingly.
