On the strength of an 8-3 victory on Wednesday, the San Francisco Giants forced a decisive Game 5 against the Cincinnati Reds, and it should be a fantastic elimination game.
Mat Latos (14-4, 3.48 ERA) will take the hill for the Reds. Latos could have been used for Game 4, which had to be especially tempting for manager Dusty Baker given the injury to Johnny Cueto, but he decided to hold onto the right-hander for the next game.
Meanwhile, the Giants have the firepower to match Latos, as Matt Cain (16-9, 2.79 ERA) is set to get the start.
The Giants need Cain to be better than the three runs he allowed in five innings in Game 1 of this series. Latos entered that game in relief and went four innings, allowing just one run.
