Of course, getting blown out a few weeks in a row can't add to job security. Unlike other sports, NFL owners tend to be a little more patient and let coaches ride out the season.
However, this is a "what have you done for me lately" league. General managers give the proverbial "vote of confidence," which is usually the kiss of death.
