5 Worst NFL Defenses in Week 5

Aaron NaglerNFL National Lead WriterOctober 19, 2016

Defense. Defense. Guaranteed, you will not hear that chant in places like Jacksonville, Cleveland and Buffalo anytime soon. These three teams all gave up over 40 points on Sunday and have been recognized as three of our five worst defenses of Week 5. If the old adage is true, "defense wins championships", there's some teams on our list who can forget about it.

No matter how many numbers a Brandon Weeden or Ryan Fitzpatrick put up, it's all moot because they have awful defenses.

And it's not just the players that stink here, it's the coaches as well. Dave Wannstedt is running a scheme that was made popular in the 90s. Most if not all NFL offensive coordinators figured it out long ago. Dom Capers' scheme appears so complicated his own players seem unable to run it. And so it goes, with talent and coaching just not adding up among these five teams.

Check out our video above and see if you have some other bad defenses in the NFL who simply can not win because they consistently  give up too many points.
