CHICAGO — As it turned out, Everett Golson’s punishment for a violation of team rules didn’t last as long as the pregame hubbub created by the news that junior Tommy Rees would start his 17th career game. Rees’ run as Notre Dame’s starting quarterback lasted all of three plays in the 25th meeting between the Irish and historic rival Miami (Fla.) Saturday night at Soldier Field. The Irish lined up for a punt on play No. 4 and got the ball back when Miami was flagged for roughing the punter.
