Baltimore Orioles vs. New York Yankees Game 3: Live Score, ALDS Analysis
Joe Girardi is an absolute genius and should never be questioned about his lineup again.
After Alex Rodriguez couldn’t do anything at the plate, Girardi slotted Raul Ibanez to pinch hit in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Yankees down a run. Ibanez crushed a Jim Johnson pitch in the right field stands to tie the game at 2-2.
Then in the bottom of the 12th inning, Ibanez hit a walk-off home run off of Brian Matusz to win the game for New York and to give his team a 2-1 lead in the ALDS.
Both Hiroki Kuroda and Miguel Gonzalez gave their team the opportunity to win, with neither offense doing much at the plate. It was the bullpen who blew the game for the Orioles, who will now have to win the next two games on the road in order to survive.
