Les Is More: Jon Lester Signs With Boston Red Sox Through 2013

I was at his debut game in 2006, sitting through a five hour rain delay (that was actually the day that The Player to Be Named Later and I discovered how to get into Fenway without tickets, so we left and came back for the start of the game) to watch what was supposed to be the first game of a doubleheader.

I bought a hat that he autographed at the 2007 Hot Stove Cool Music summer concert. I cried when he closed out the 2007 World Series with a win. I sat completely still in field box 58 at Fenway as he threw a no-hitter.

And now I get to root for him until 2014.

Jon Lester has reportedly signed a five year $30 Million contract extension with a sixth year option to remain with the Boston Red Sox through his prime.

He, along with § (the artist formerly known as "The Beard That Should Not Be") and AL MVP Dustin Pedroia, now make up the young core of an already veteran team that is set to remain intact for years to come.

A great piece of news to end an already great baseball weekend.

Go Sox.

Done.
