March Madness Magic Is in the Air in Niagara

Mark SimoncelliContributor IMarch 9, 2009

With four seconds left in the semifinals of the MAAC Conference Tournament, the Niagara Purple Eagles took their fifth and final time out.

They needed a big play and got one from junior guard Tyrone Lewis.

With 1.4 seconds left, he hit a 3-pointer from nearly half court to tie the game at 71 and send the game into overtime.

In double overtime, the Purple Eagles won 93-89.

The game went down to the wire, including a late game steal in the second overtime from Bilal Benn when Niagara was up by just two.

It may be early and only the semifinals of the MAAC Conference Tournament but one thing is for sure—the "March Magic" air is in Niagara tonight.
