With two out in the bottom of the eighth, pinch-hitter Tyler Moore flared a single that landed safely in just the right spot between the right fielder and the first baseman. It not only allowed Mike Morse to score from first but also Ian Desmond from second.

The two runs gave the Nationals a 3-2 lead. Thanks to Tyler Clippard and Drew Storen not allowing a hit or walk in the eighth or ninth inning, the score held. Ryan Mattheus worked the seventh and picked up the win.

While Moore got the game-winning hit, it was Desmond who was the Nationals' star on this day. Not only did he score the winning run, but he was 3-for-4 from the plate.

These two will resume play in St. Louis on Monday at 4:37 p.m. ET with the Nationals leading the series 1-0.
