The Atlanta Falcons improved to 5-0 in Week 5, beating the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field by a score of 24-17.
Robert Griffin had his worst outing as a pro before getting taken out of the game in the third quarter after Sean Weatherspoon hit him hard near the goal line on the right side of the field. He only threw 15 passes and completed 10 of them for a mere 91 yards.
Matt Ryan struggled to connect with his receivers early in the game, but he came through again in the clutch, as he did in Week 4, and finished the afternoon with solid numbers and the victory. For the game, Ryan hit on 34-of-52 passes for 345 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.
Tony Gonzalez and Julio Jones came through with huge performances, combining to make 23 receptions for 217 yards and two touchdowns.
Alfred Morris' strong rookie campaign continued in this game, as he rushed for 115 yards on 18 carries.
In the end, the difference in the game was the turnover battle. The Falcons came away with three, while the Redskins were only able to come up with one.
The Redskins now move to 2-3 on the year and will host the Minnesota Vikings in Week 6. The Falcons, meanwhile, take their perfect record back home, where they'll host the Oakland Raiders.
