WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Brendan Gibbons' first crack at the scoreboard Saturday wasn't promising.

The Michigan junior kicker seemed to put all he had into a 44-yard field goal attempt in the first half, but a decent breeze and not enough leg ruined it, knocking the ball down and off the bottom crossbar for his second miss of the season in just five tries.
