The Cincinnati Reds took a one-game lead over the San Francisco Giants with a decisive 5-2 victory in Game 1 of the five game series.
Things didn't start out so good for the home-team Reds as they lost their starter and ace Johnny Cueto to back spasms. A patchwork bullpen effort stymied the Giants for much of the night.
Buster Posey cranked a first-pitch home run to left field in the bottom of the 6th to bring the Giants with two runs.
The game came down to Posey in the bottom of the ninth. San Francisco loaded the bases against "The Cuban Missile" Aroldis Chapman and scored on a wild pitch to close the gap to three.
Posey went down swinging to secure the win for the Reds.
