KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Five days ago, after a tumultuous and difficult season, the Tigers clinched a spot in the playoffs and celebrated with champagne. Two days later, the team celebrated again when Miguel Cabrera won the Triple Crown, a rare and remarkable feat that no batter had managed since the late '60s. Yet late Wednesday night -- after Detroit beat Kansas City, 1-0, to finish the regular season -- the team's manager wrapped up his postgame news conference this way: "I'm happy about one thing -- nobody can ever say I screwed (Cabrera) up."
