UFC on FX 5 is headlined by a heavyweight matchup between rising star Travis Browne and Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva. Browne has been on a roll and is one of the best young fighters in the UFC's heavyweight division.
Also on the card, John Dodson and Jussier Formiga battle for a number one contender's matchup for the flyweight title.

Round 1: Spinning high kick early from Browne. Silva lands a straight right that stops Browne in his tracks. Travis Browne looking like Dominick Cruz. Leg kick from Antonio Silva. Browne using Jon Jones kicks to the knee. Bigfoot closes the distance and Browne lands a knee to the belly. They clinch against the cage and Silva lands knees to the thighs. Browne just put his arm around the top of the fence and Herb Dean freaked out. Thai Clinch from Travis Browne and he doesn't land any knees. Browne is showing signs of having an injured left knee as he is walking on it a bit funny. Browne is attacking with kicks to the legs and lands a power punch down the pipe. Silva clobbers Browne with a right hand and then follows up with punches on the ground. That's it. Antonio Silva wins by knockout.

Round 3: The crowd erupts in cheers as the fighters take the center of the cage. They weren't doing anything so maybe there was a fight in the stands? Ellenberger gets hit with a kick to the groin and action stops. Okay we're back to a fight and Hieron is throwing a lot of kicks. Ellenberger times it right and gets a takedown but Hieron is back to his feet. Another sloppy spinning backfist from Hieron. Hieron lands some jabs and Ellenberger responds with a chopping leg kick. More leg kicks from Ellenberger. Ellenberger tries to time another takedown but Hieron keeps distance and steps away. There wasn't much action in the final minute and that's it. 10-9 Jake Ellenberger...I guess?

Round 2: Leg kick from Ellenberger to open the second. As Ellenberger comes in for an uppercut, Hieron connects on a hook as he steps to the side. Headkick from Hieron is checked. He his a switch kick to the head. Hieron drops for another single and gives it up almost immediately. Ellenberger times it right and hits a power double leg. Ellenberger landing some short elbows from the top. Hieron creates space and gets back to his feet. Hieron is cut and his face is red. Ellenberger landing from the outside. Hieron continues with the kicks. Hieron is still trying for the spinning backfist but misses again. 10-9 Jake Ellenberger

Round 1: Spinning back kick for Hieron lands to the body. As does a jab. They exchange and Hieron slips Ellenberger's punches. Short uppercut connects for Ellenberger and Hieron didn't like that. Hieron attempts another spinning kick that misses. Hieron grabs for a leg and Ellenberger lands a jumping knee to defend. Slow round from the welterweights. Spinning back fist from Hieron misses. Round 2: Formiga is countering every Dodson punch because Dodson is leaving his hands down. This is a pretty slow fight and neither fighter wants to commit. Looping hook from Formiga misses. And another. Dodson connects on his own counter hook as Formiga attacks. Formiga drops for a takedown and Dodson connects with a 1-2. Dodson connects with a big left hand and drops Formiga. Formiga survives and gets back to his feet. Dodson is throwing those uppercuts but missing all of them. Another left hand lands for Dodson and Formiga is down. Dodson pours on the punches and Formiga is out. John Dodson wins by knockout.

Round 1: Dodson moving well in the opening of the first. He's attacking the body and staying out of range when Formiga attacks. They exchange punches and Dodson wins the exchange. Dodson rushes in and Formiga connects on a counter hook. Dodson goes to the body again. Dodson gets countered on another body shot. Did Dodson just punch Formiga in the thigh? Formiga is doing well and showing no signs of Octagon jitters. The crowd is booing because of a lack of action. Formiga lands a decent combination and follows up with a body kick. They collide heads as the round ends. 10-9 Jussier Formiga

He Passes to side control and this is bad news for Johnson. Johnson is fighting to survive and get his head free. Castillos landing punches as he gives up the submission. Pierce gets underhooks but as they separate, Simpson lands a high kick. Simpson lands a right hand and drops Pierce. Simpson is going for the kill and Pierce is surviving by holding onto a leg. Simpson landing punches as he fights to get his leg back. More knees to the head from Simpson and an uppercut. Simpson lifts Pierce and slams him on his back. Round 3: Leg kick from Prater to open the third. And a high kick. LeVesseur responds with his own kicks. LeVesseur comes forward and Prater drops and initiates a clinch. LeVesseur gets distance and he's going for the finish with his punches. He drops for a takedown and Prater clinches up...again. More knees to the body. Zzzzzz....Oh still clinched. Okay, Josh Rosenthal breaks them and we have half a round left. Head kick for Prater. Another clinch and Prater lands knees to the body. LeVesseur catches a leg and drives towards the cage for a takedown. Prater really tight on that guillotine attempt and LeVesseur is trying to fight off the position and he does. There's not much going on till the end of the fight. 10-9 Carlo Prater (I guess?)

Round 2: LeVesseur wild with another hook to open the second and Prater clinches against the fence. He's throwing knees to the body and keeping position. LeVesseur is able to turn Prater to the fence and lands his own knees. Prater is able to get some distance from the cage and lands some uppercuts from the clinch. LeVesseur misses an uppercut and Prater tries for a takedown but doesn't get it. More clinch work against the cage. This really is a boring fight. For real. LeVesseur hits the takedown and Prater locks in a guillotine. The choke seems to be a bit loose and LeVesseur escapes and then stands. Marcus lands some punches and then creates distance. Another takedown from LeVesseur and Prater is back to the choke. Two rounds down. 10-9 Marcus LeVesseur.

Round 1: LeVesseur with a massive overhand left to open the fight that misses its target. Prater gets the clinch and walks LeVesseur down to the cage. Prater is landing knees to the body and really controlling the position well. LeVesseur catches one of the knees and his a takedown though he's completely locked down. Josh Rosenthal stands them up since there's no action. Prater attempted a flying triangle and LeVesseur catches him. Prater takes advantage and is working for a guillotine. Prater using the television screens to tighten the guillotine. Prater kicks up the choke and clinches up. He tries to turn LeVesseur to the fence but LeVesseur keeps position. They are fighting for position and LeVesseur is looking for a takedown. Prater keeps his base and stays standing. Round closes and it's 10-9 Carlo Prater

Round 1: Volkmann throwing a lot of kicks to open the first stanza. Roller reaches but he can't find a leg. Volkmann dives for a single and can't hold onto the ankle. Volkmann lands an uppercut to the chin. Volkmann drives forward and is able to clinch up. He takes Roller's back and is working for a rear naked choke. He's landing punches to the side of the head. He has the arm under the chin and Roller taps. Jacob Volkmann wins by submission.

Round 3: Another leg kick from Nunes to open the third round. Bart walking Nunes down but he's just a second slower in his attacks. Palaszewski connects with a left hook that rocks Nunes. Nunes is definitely hurt. Nunes is getting tagged and reaching for takedowns to slow down the fight. Palaszewski is on the attack and looking for openings. Nunes throws a spinning back kick to the body. Nunes back to throwing kicks and Bart respond with punches. Nunes has lost a step as they exchange punches. Another exchange and it's definitely Palaszewski that is winning the exchanges. Bart comes forward with punches and Nunes unsuccessfully tries a takedown. Nunes with a second wind as he's throwing heavy leather again. Great round with both fighters looking for the finish. As Bart comes in, Nunes lands a counter hook. Nunes connects with a right hand that drops Bart and he lands punches as the round closes. Diego Nunes just won the round with that last minute. 10-9 Diego Nunes
