Tottenham's outstanding win against Manchester United on Saturday will give them a boost of confidence ahead of Thursday's important Europa League group stage match against Greek club Panathinaikos at the Athens Olympic Stadium.

Spurs' first match of their Europa League campaign ended in a scoreless draw at White Hart Lane to Italian side Lazio, so it's crucial that the Premier League club does not drop points for a second straight game.

Panathinaikos has struggled domestically, winning just one of their first five league matches to start the season, but the club is no stranger to European competition. The Greek side qualified for the Champions League last season, but were not able to reach the knockout stage from a group that included Barcelona.

They are capable of making a surprise run in this tournament, but after an opening 3-0 defeat to NK Maribor on matchday one, Panathinaikos will be desperate for three points on Thursday.

However, Tottenham will be a very difficult opponent for Panathinaikos. Spurs are fantastic on the counter-attack thanks to the pace and acceleration that Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon bring to the squad, and in Jermaine Defore, manager Andre Villas-Boas has a striker capable of winning important matches with timely goals.

Midfielder Clint Dempsey gives Tottenham another goal-scoring threat, while French center-back William Gallas leads an impressive back four that includes rising star Kyle Walker at right-back.

Tottenham are a complete squad that will have no excuses if they fail to take three points from this match. They are a better attacking team than Panathinaikos, and Spurs have more quality on the bench.

Expect Tottenham to dominate this match, and capture a needed three points to bolster their chances of making the next round of the Europa League.
