The Program: Can Clemson, Notre Dame and Oregon Stave off the Upset Bid?

Michael FelderNational CFB Lead WriterOctober 3, 2012

It's Wednesday, folks, and that means we've got to put teams on notice here at Your Best 11. "Upset Alert" is all over the nation this week with stops in the South, Midwest and, of course, the Pacific Northwest.

First up, the Clemson Tigers. Last year, the Georgia Tech game started the Tigers' slide from which Dabo Swinney and his crew would lose four of their last six, including the Orange Bowl. This year, at home, the Tigers look to avoid the loss and stay close enough in the rankings to possibly claim an at-large BCS bid.

The Jackets are coming off a laughable loss to Middle Tennessee, where their offense and defense looked to be JV against the Sun Belt team. Can the Ramblin' Wreck step up to beat this explosive Clemson team?

Washington is flying high after upsetting Top 10 Stanford, but the Huskies don't get to revel in it too long. This week, they've got Oregon on the schedule. After playing a smashmouth team, the Huskies are switching gears in an effort to knock off the Ducks' fast-paced attack.

Oregon's defense has played well this season, and Keith Price, with few reliable weapons on offense, is going to have to pull a rabbit out of the hat to win this game.

In Chicago, the Fighting Irish take their strong front seven into a game against the surprisingly 4-1 Miami Hurricanes. The Canes are explosive, and this game is going to be about whether the pass rush can stop Stephen Morris before he can pick apart the Irish secondary.

On the other side of the ball, is this the game Everett Golson and the offense gets right to avoid losing to this young, dynamic Miami team?

Enjoy another week of "Upset Alert" on The Program folks. Oh, and we've got a bonus pick for you folks who like upsets.
