United hold on, and it's two wins out of two. The win was deserved but Cluj made things interesting at the end.
Robin van Persie scored both goals, and Wayne Rooney—who was superb as a playmaker—supplied both assists.
So United have taken maximum points from their first two Champions League matches, and it's looking like they won't be repeating last season's European failure.
Also, this was a nice response after the weekend loss to Tottenham. All in all a good day for United.
Rafael Bastos races into the box and flicks a header toward United's near post.
De Gea gets a finger to it, and it's out for a corner. United clear.
What a chance for Cluj!
90'—CLUJ 1, UNITED 2
Cluj attacking, pressing hard for an equalizer. United defending well.
Heading into stoppage time…
88'—CLUJ 1, UNITED 2
David De Gea comes off his line to collect a high ball in his box. He gets knocked over for his trouble, but that was a nice grab.
United almost there…
Rio Ferdinand receives a yellow card for a studs-up challenge on Rafael Bastos.
Danny Welbeck replaces Javier Hernandez. Chicharito had minimal impact tonight.
Scott Wootton on for United. Is Fergie getting a percentage of some kind of weird bet Wootton's Dad made years ago?— Men in Blazers (@MenInBlazers) October 2, 2012
Jonny Evans leaves the match. Scott Wootton comes on for his big chance in Europe. How will he fare?
Sweeping move for United. Robin van Persie cuts the ball back from deep in the left side of the box.
Evra tumbles under a challenge, but the ref waves play on.
RT @jamesp777:Evra seems to be yet another one of those pesky foreign divers looking for a PEL Fergie was talking about!— MirrorFootball (@MirrorFootball) October 2, 2012
71'—CLUJ 1, UNITED 2
Rooney crosses from deep on the left side of the box for (of course) Robin van Persie. The defense gets it clear, but only barely.
That would have put the game away. Can United seal the points?
If you're wondering why we're posting all these tweets, there's not much happening on the pitch right now.

Will be disappointed if no-one refers to Cluj centre-half Rada as a drama queen in tomorrow's match reports— Sam Wallace (@SamWallaceIndy) October 2, 2012
Get on it, broadsheets…
63'—CLUJ 1, UNITED 2
United continue to dominate possession, but Sir Alex Ferguson's men haven't shown much attacking intent since taking the lead.
That might be a mistake. Cluj are dangerous on the counter.
Pantelis Kapetanos heads off. Croatian forward Sasa Bjelanovic enters.
59'—CLUJ 1, UNITED 2
Rafael Bastos fouls United's Rafael on the right. The free kick comes to nothing, but United continue attacking.
It's all United right now, and Rooney is running the show in the middle.
Muresan heads a corner down into the mix, and Jonny Evans clears it.
The second corner is met by the head of Cadu, whose powerful header is parried over the bar by De Gea.
Cluj looking dangerous!
More on RvP:
7 - Robin van Persie has now scored 7 goals in all competitions this season, more than any other Premier League based player. Settled.— Opta(@OptaJoe) October 2, 2012
And yet more:
You do wonder if RvP could serve canapes with that left foot sometimes— Will Tidey (@willtidey) October 2, 2012
In fairness, Rooney has assisted both goals.
Almost time for MUFC fans to adopt that old Arsenal chant? 'He scores all our goals, he scores all our goals, Robin van Persie...'— MirrorFootball (@MirrorFootball) October 2, 2012
53'—CLUJ 1, UNITED 2
RvP and Matias Agirregaray get into a disagreement along the touchline. It's about a clumsy challenge by the United man.
Moments later, Kapetanos hits a first-time shot way over the bar.
MORE ON THE GOAL
Rooney is the provider again. This time he crosses high over the top from the right.
Robin van Persie positions himself under the ball, waits for it to come down, then lifts it over the keeper with his first touch. It's part volley, part redirection, and all brilliance.
RvP puts United ahead with his second of the night, and it's a brilliant strike!
Rooney's shot is deflected out for a corner.
On the resulting corner, Anderson blasts a shot over the bar after Cluj fail with a couple attempts to clear.
Cluj restart the match…
CFR CLUJ 1, MANCHESTER UNITED 1
It was a nightmare start for United, with Kapetanos putting Cluj ahead on the counter. United responded well, though, and RvP scored his first Champions League goal with the club by redirecting Rooney's free kick into the net with his shoulder.
United head into the break on top, but will they start slowly again in the second half? Back momentarily.
Rooney has a shot from a free kick 30 meters out. It bounces straight into Felgueiras' arms.
