UPDATE: Sunday, October 7 at 12:50 p.m. ET by Alex Kay

Michael Bush is not listed on the Bearsinjury report for their Week 5 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. His shoulder may still be aching, but it's not keeping him out.

However, starting RB Matt Forte isn’t sitting either, which will cut into the expected touches and subsequent fantasy points for the solid backup.

Bush is a great goal line tailback, which makes him a threat to score every time Chicago gets down inside their opponent’s five-yard line.

If you are in a deep fantasy league or just think the Bears are going to have opportunities to punch it in from close against the Jags, feel free to give Bush a start.

Michael Bush may be struggling with his shoulder, but it won't keep him out of action against the Cowboys on Monday. ESPN's Michael C. Wright tweets along the Bears' inactive players.

Bears inactives: E. Rodriguez, E. Williams, C. William, M. Toeaina, E. Bennett, N. Collins, C. Ozougwu

As you can see, Michael Bush is not on that list, which means Bush is on track to play on Monday.

---End of update---

Matt Forte missed last week's game with an ankle injury, and backup Michael Bush left that game against Tampa Bay in the fourth quarter with a shoulder injury. While the news on Bush's shoulder has been relatively quiet, it now appears that this is no minor injury.

The Chicago Tribune's Vaughnn McClure passed along this surprising bit of news.

Keep an eye on Michael Bush, though. Heard he's really toughin it out with a shoulder injury that might be significant.

Obviously, a bum shoulder could be a real problem for a running back. It will weaken Bush's ball security while also making it tougher to catch passes out of the backfield.

Bush, who joined the Bears as a free agent from the Oakland Raiders this last offseason, has been a big part of the Bears' offense.

He already has 44 carries for 151 yards and three touchdowns. He is the main back when Forte can't go, and he is one of the Bears' featured options near the goal line. I have to believe that he will not be as appealing an option near the goal line while he battles this injury.

The good news for the Bears is that it appears Forte is ready to go on Monday night.

NFL Insider Jay Glazer passed this along.

Sources tell me barring a freak setback Matt Forte is healthy and set to play tonight. He's telling teammates he will be active, good to go!

As long as Forte can stay healthy, this injury should not have that great an impact on the Bears. It will, however, have a big impact on fantasy owners.

Due to Bush's performance in goal-line situations, Bush has value whether Forte can play or not. With this injury likely changing that role, it would be wise to leave Bush on the bench until he proves his shoulder will not limit him.
