Seattle Seahawks vs. Carolina Panthers Preview and Predictions
Cam Newton has fancied himself as an entertainer and an icon. Now if he could only be a winning quarterback.
The Carolina Panthers have struggled to find a foothold in the NFC South; despite a potent running attack and the emergence of Brandon LaFell as a deep threat on offense, they're still a young team in search of an identity. They're almost paradoxical, considering Newton's novel read-option offense and the conservative, let's-not-go-for-it-on-4th-and-an-inch nature of head coach Ron Rivera.
The Seattle Seahawks know the feeling. Their young quarterback, rookie Russell Wilson, has a case of the checkdowns as well, and is subject to the confines of the Seattle offense.
The Seahawks have less talent on the offensive side of the ball but have been dynamic on defense, especially in the front seven. Rookie linebacker Bruce Irvin, considered a reach when taken in the first round of April's draft, has silenced his critics with impressive play in the first quartile of the season.
