The Ryder Cup at Medinah Country Club will feature some of the best golfers from around the world, but questions remain as to whether the American contingent will look that part of champions.
I hardly expect this Ralph Lauren collection to rile up American fans nearly as much as the Olympic attire did a couple months ago.
Like all fashion exploits, there are going to be some hits and misses. As you will see, the clothes the U.S. men will wear aren't for everybody.
At their best, they have some classic flare with old school sensibilities. At their worst, they add about 20 years to whomever wears them.
Let's dive right in and grade the outfits the U.S. will wear proudly.
But first, here is a picture of how these outfits can go south in a hurry, via Golf Channel's Morning Drive.
Here is what the guys will wear when hitting the range and putting green, or just walking around looking all golf fabulous and stuff.
I will say right off, I am a fan. I like the boldness of the pinstripes and red, but have issues with these if they were mandated for a particular day.
Not everyone will pull off red pants. There are some bulbous golfers out there who would look like one half of the Kool-Aid man in those pants.
There is no better way to start the weekend than to head out with some windowpane pants. Right? Okay, for you hipsters out there, maybe.
This is one outfit that will look downright suave on some but not on others. Still, you have to like the simple white on blue with the windowpane bringing the noise on the pants.
I cautiously give the thumbs up here.
Day 2 flips the script and the guys head out with white pants and a shirt that has just enough design not to make the whole thing boring.
Ralph Lauren skirts disaster with this take on an American uniform. If you had to think of one outfit to best represent the nation, this would be it.
The team goes out there with no reason to hang their heads from a sartorial standpoint. Now it's time to sink some shots.
