Ronaldo Injured By Microphone After First Game Back

Brazilian star Ronaldo managed to make it through his first game back, although he was struck by a microphone as he left the pitch.

The 'podgy' 32 year old was making his debut for Corinthians after a 13 month absence from competitive football.

After the game, he was left with a badly bruised and swollen right eye as he made his way through a post-match media scrum. The striker was making his return after his third career-threatening knee injury.

He is still far from his best physically, and admitted that it would take time for him to get back to his former quality.

Ronaldo has battled weight problems in the past and has trained for three months to reach match fitness. If he wants to wear his favourite No. 9 shirt, he'll have to perform better as he only had a few touches of the ball in an unspectacular debut.

"He had a good debut, moved well and tried a few dribbles," said Corinthians coach Mano.
