Red Bull converted the world’s most infamous prisons, Alcatraz, into a basketball magnet for street ballers and one-on-one players. They found the best pickup basketball players from around the world and put them head to head in an epic one on one tournament called King of the Rock.
We talked to Boston Celtic All-Star, Rajon Rondo and Golden State Warrior rookie Harrison Barnes about some of the competition they were witnessing, as well as some questions about their fellow players in the NBA.
Harrison Barnes was impressed with how hard these competitors were playing. Even more impressive was how these guys were battling the wind, since the competition was held outside and right on the water.
Barnes was also asked who of his rookie class would do the best in a one-on-one tournament and he said, “Anthony Davis, because of his length and his ability to get to the basket.” As for the whole NBA, he said you have to go with the scoring champ, Kevin Durant.
We also caught up with Rajon Rondo. We asked him how well he would fare in a one-on-one competition like this, and he said he would use his quickness and his size to his advantage and could see himself doing well.
This was a great event and with some great matchups. It had a great turnout everyone enjoyed themselves at King of the Rock.
