UFC 96 Undercard Kendall Grove vs. Jason Day: Win or Go Home

Thomas YungContributor IMarch 5, 2009

The main event of Jackson vs. Jardine is going to be good. The fight of Gonzaga vs. Carwin should also be entertaining. However, the fight of Kendall Grove vs. Jason Day on the undercard is also catching some attention as the loser of that fight will be released by Dana White, the president of the UFC.

It is reported that the winner of Grove vs. Day will get to stay whereas the loser will need to pack his bags and look for a job elsewhere.

White mentioned to USA Today, “If Kendall loses this fight, he could be the first-ever TUF (The Ultimate Fighter TV series) winner that’s no longer in the UFC.”

Kendall “Da Spyder” Grove (11-5) looked sharp against the late Evan Tanner last year, but he has not really overcome any difficult challenges during his career in the UFC.

Jason “Dooms” Day (17-6) lost to Michael Bisping in the UK back in June is also not getting many high profile fights in the UFC.

Grove has more experience inside the Octagon with the size and length advantage, but Day is very capable of pulling an upset in this fight making the TUF third season winner pack his bags with his well-rounded skills and conditioning.

Although this fight is not enough to be a main event attraction, it would be interesting to see who wants his job more by overcoming his opponent.

Banks and other businesses around the world are reducing their workforces and trimming payrolls, but it seems Dana White is letting people go in a rather different manner and definitely not without a fight.
