My Miss Aurelia outfinished Questing (GB) in a thrilling stretch run to win the $1 million Cotillion Stakes (G1) at Parx Racing today.

Questing (GB) was the favorite at 7-5 followed by My Miss Aurelia at 3-1 and the race was expected to practically be a match race between them.

And it was a jockey's race as well. At the start Irad Ortiz Jr took Questing (GB) right to the lead and Corey Nakatani was willing to just play the stalker part as he placed My Miss Aurelia right behind Questing (QB) just to her outside.

Questing (QB) set easy fractions of 25.0 and 50.0 which, considering the ones she is used to set, at the moment seemed like it will swing the balance at the end in her favor.

Once they hit the final three furlongs pole, Nakatani started to take the race with My Miss Aurelia to Ortiz Jr and Questing (QB) who started to try and pull away in the lead.

As they entered the home stretch, Questing (GB) had just a head in front of a determined My Miss Aurelia who started to press the issue for the lead as they hit the final furlong pole.

The battle for the lead showed bumps and brushes, but at the end it was a stubborn My Miss Aurelia who never gave up and showed her head up front at the wire to take the win.

It was a thrilling mano-a-mano by Nakatani and Ortiz Jr down that got everyone on their feet cheering for their favorite.

My Miss Aurelia was making only her second start of the year after missing most of the year due to a shin injury discovered late last year.

On her comeback race, she overcame a poor start to win the 6.5 furlongs Mandys Gold Stakes by three lengths.

This was a very important win for My Miss Aurelia.

Questing (GB) had established herself as one of the the top female horses in the nation and one of the favorites to win the Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic at Santa Anita in Nov. 3 after winning two straight G1 races.

She will most likely face Questing (GB) there again, but there will be another impressive unbeaten filly awaiting as well.

Awesome Feather, who extended her unbeaten record to 10-for-10 in the Nasty Storm Stakes despite an eight month layoff this past Thursday at Belmont Park, is probably the one to beat.

Add Royal Delta and the probable It's Tricky to the list of possible starters and the recipe for an epic race has been written.

The Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic can't be here soon enough.
