Rich Franklin Should Stay a Middleweight
On June 13, 2009 Rich Franklin will step into the octagon with Wanderlei Silva in the light heavyweight division. This does not look good for Franklin. Silva is coming off one of the worst losses of his career against Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, and will look to destroy Franklin when they meet in June.
Although Franklin is one of the UFC's best, I just don't think he is cut out for the ultra-competitive light heavyweight division. As a middleweight, the only competition for Franklin would be Anderson Silva and Dan Henderson, and the latter is on the road to retirement.
In the light heavyweight division there are multiple competitors including Rashad Evans, Forrest Griffin, Rampage, and Wanderlei Silva, just to name a few. The 205 lbs. division is loaded with talent and Franklin just isn't built for it. He might have a chance again at the title, and keep a few of his fans in the process, if he stays at 185 lbs. and gives it his all.
