Now that the Kansas City Chiefs have Matt Cassel, what will become of Tyler Thigpen?
As a fan of Thigpen, I am worried that he will never get to start in this league again. The dynamic young quarterback is now stuck behind a one-year wonder. Is Thigpen forever forced to just run the wildcat, or will he get his shot elsewhere?
For now, it is good he is stuck in Kansas City. Matt Cassel will be the starter, and Thigpen will probably not get a chance to compete.
This is truly sad, considering Thigpen is one of the only players in the league who leaves everything on the field. He was one of the NFL's players who was truly fun to watch. With dual-threat ability, defenses actually had to plan for him.
His numbers were not that bad—18 touchdowns to 12 interceptions. Throw in three rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown. He only played in 14 games.
Here is the biggest part about this—he will only be 25 years old when the next season starts. These numbers are pretty impressive for the young quarterback. Hopefully, a team will see these numbers and his potential, and not let him slowly disappear into the NFL's forgotten.
