Two weeks into the 2012 NFL regular season, fans are starting to get an idea of how their teams are constructed and what they can expect as the season plays out.
In the video above, Josh Zerkle and I discuss the Philadelphia Eagles, Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets, Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys and ask if they are contenders or pretenders heading into Week 3.
For my part, I can't take the Eagles seriously until Michael Vick figures out how to stop turning the football over at such an alarming rate. How long can the defense carry this team?
And the Cardinals? Please. Yes, their defense has looked nasty good. But this isn't the year 2000, and these aren't the Baltimore Ravens. Until they find a real quarterback, they're pretenders as well.
The Jets need to get Darrelle Revis back on the field, the Redskins can overcome the big-time losses of Brian Orakpo and Adam Carriker and the Cowboys should be concerned about the apparent return of an inconsistent Tony Romo.
Let us know in the comments below if you agree or disagree with our takes above. I look forward to a calm and reasoned discourse.
