The draw for the 2013 Davis Cup has been announced, and top-eight seeded nations are set to open up World Group play the first weekend in February.

Spain and Czech Republic, the two 2012 finalists, will head the top eight nations. 2012 semifinalists Argentina and the United States will be seeded No. 3 and No. 6 respectively.

Serbia, which won the Cup in 2010, is seeded No. 4, while three-time Davis Cup champion France is seeded fifth. Croatia and Kazakhstan round out the seeds at No. 7 and No. 8, respectively.

The biggest storyline heading into next year's Cup is the potential first-round matchup of 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer and Tomas Berdych. Berdych, who will represent the Czech Republic, defeated Federer in the quarterfinals at the 2012 U.S. Open.

With anticipation running high, here is everything you need to know about the seedings and first-round matchups for next year's Davis Cup.

World Group Schedule for Davis Cup 2013

World Group First Round: February 1-3

World Group Quarterfinals: April 5-7

World Group Semifinals and Playoffs: September 13-15

World Group Final: November 15-17

Seeded Nations for Davis Cup 2013

Seed Nation
No. 1 Spain
No. 2 Czech Republic
No. 3 Argentina
No. 4 Serbia
No. 5 France
No. 6 United States
No. 7 Croatia
No. 8 Kazakhstan

No nation has won more Davis Cups than the the United States, which has won 32 since the annual international tournament began in 1900. Spain has been the most dominant nation as of late however, winning five titles since 2000 and closing in on another in 2012.

The Czech Republic has not won since 1980 while Argentina has never won a Davis Cup, instead finishing as runner-up four times since 1981. Look for No. 1-seeded Spain to live up to the favorite tag in 2013 as Rafael Nadal is set to return from knee issues suffered this past year.

Unseeded Nations for Davis Cup 2013

If there is a nation to watch for among the unseeded in the World Group it is Switzerland. With Roger Federer coming off a Wimbledon title in 2012, the Swiss have the talent to challenge the world's best and should be considered a threat despite their under-the-radar status.

Although Germany has not won a Davis Cup since 1993, it still boasts three titles and could give Argentina some problems in the first round come the first weekend in February.
