Brock Lesnar Should Appear on Raw Much More Frequently in Coming Months
Brock Lesnar's contract with WWE saw the company booking him for a total of 35 appearances over a year-long period starting the night after WrestleMania 28.
Cast your mind back to Brock Lesnar's previous appearances to this point (summarised here with the exception of Lesnar's post-SummerSlam Raw appearance where Paul Heyman dubbed him the new "King of Kings") and see that he has 24 appearances left on his contract.
I took a quick look at WWE's upcoming schedule. Assuming that, like most part-time stars, Lesnar is considered too big to appear on SmackDown!, Lesnar will exclusively be appearing on PPV (pay-per-view) and Raw. How many PPVs and Raws are there between now and when Lesnar's contract expires? 36—30 episodes of Raw, Hell in a Cell, Survivor Series, TLC, Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania.
Throw that into a calculator and what do you get? Lesnar will be appearing in 66.6 percent of future Raw and PPV shows if WWE intends to to fully use all the dates in his contract—which I would assume they intend to. For comparison, Lesnar has appeared on Raw/PPV 36.6 percent of the time since his return to WWE.
Most WWE fans anticipated Lesnar only appearing at the "Big Four" PPVs—SummerSlam, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. Lesnar has already competed at Extreme Rules and to me the number of dates in his current contract imply he will have time to appear at others.
This would be great. Lesnar has feuded with John Cena and Triple H since he returned and is strongly rumoured to be working programs with either The Rock or The Undertaker at WrestleMania. While these are all incredible dream matches it would be great for WWE to also make use of Lesnar in the creation of other stars.
Could we see Brock Lesnar returning in a few weeks, in time for Hell in a Cell? It is quite possible. Raw General Manager AJ Lee could claim that the fearsome structure could be used for the Cena/Punk rematch to keep Lesnar from interfering.
If there is any period of time I can see Lesnar missing TV it is in the build to Elimination Chamber and the Elimination Chamber PPV itself as by that point I anticipate WWE will already have started the build towards his WrestleMania storyline and will not want to deviate.
What are your thoughts on this? Should Lesnar's appearances be minimised to increase his drawing power at PPVs or should WWE give him as much exposure as his contract will allow? When do you think Lesnar will be back? Please leave comments.
