Dominic Moore and the Toronto Maple Leafs have reportedly broken off talks that would lock the 28-year-old fan favorite in Toronto for the next couple of years. After failing to reach a deal reportedly around $2.5 to $3 million for two years, the Leafs are now looking to ship Moore out of Toronto by the 3 PM deadline this afternoon.

This comes as no surprise today, as Moore was a healthy scratch on Tuesday vs the New Jersey Devils. Dominic Moore however was not the only healthy scratch last night, as the Leafs star winger Nik Antropov was also not dressed to play the Devils.

So a trade looks to be in the works that may involve both Moore and long time Leaf Nik Antropov.

Dominic Moore has been a very exciting player to watch this season and has quickly become a fan favorite in Toronto. Not only has Dominic become popular with the fans, but also with his coaches as he was given the title of assistant captain this season with the Leafs.

The 6'0", 194-pound centre is having a career year in numbers so far this season, putting up an impressive 49 points for the Leafs. Moore has scored 12 goals this season so far, and with his intensity and desire to win he could be an asset to any playoff contending team in both the stretch and playoff run.

Toronto fans will be sad to see Moore leave, but a trade must be done if the Leafs cannot lock him up before the 3 PM deadline. Moore is a great player who is still young and has room to improve his game even more.

Toronto would love to keep him around for their rebuilding process, however if they cant keep him for next season they must get something for him this afternoon.

Expect a deal involving Dominic Moore and possibly Nik Antropov by the deadline this afternoon. In return the Leafs are most likely looking for some extra draft picks or another young player in return.
