NFL: Breakout Fantasy Player for Week 3
With Matt Forte battling a bum ankle, Michael Bush goes from TD vulture to sure-fire fantasy starter for Week 3 vs. the Rams.
Bush showed last year in Oakland that he’s fully capable of carrying the load, meaning the Bears have no reason to rush Forte back this early in the season.
Fantasy owners should feel confident they will still get Bush’s goal line carries, plus the bulk of the rushes that Forte was handling in the base offensive packages.
Given all the struggles the Bears have had keeping Jay Cutler upright, you have to figure Mike Tice is going to do everything he can to avoid third-and-long situations, which means a heavy dose of Bush on first and second down.
Bush is a must-start against St. Louis and if Forte’s ankle injury lingers—or turns out to be the same Lisfranc problem that sidelined Darren McFadden last year—he could be a Top 10 guy for the rest of the season.
