Update 10:53 CST

Blues send Defensman Andy Wozniewski to Pittsburgh for Danny Richmond

This is a trade for more future talent. Wozniewski was not going to crack the lineup in St. Louis and Pittsburgh needs defensive help. Richmond is 24 years old and has not shown the skill set to play in the majors just yet. With the Blues needing young defensemen in Peoria this trade makes sense.

We are early on in trade deadline day and already a few things to note.

First off, it looks like Keith Tkachuk will be staying in St. Louis. Multiple reports have said the John Davidson has not received any offers for the future Hall of Famer and that they are not looking to trade him.

Also today it appears the Anahiem Ducks were looking to acquire TJ Oshie in any Chris Pronger deal that would have gone down. The Ducks were told emphatically "no."

I am glad to see that the Blues are looking to keep their young depth here instead of trying to win the Cup now. It's obvious we are not in the upper echelon of teams just yet.

In other news the Columbus Blue Jackets have traded goalie Pascal Leclaire to the Ottawa Senators for forward Anoine Vermette.

It is a great deal for both teams in that Columbus gets their scoring forward for the playoff push and the Senators shed salary and get a goalie for the future.

More to come as the day progresses.
